HUMAN RESERVE LAB

Your Brain is Human Infrastructure.

You can be functioning every day while your brain health is paying the price.

Sleep, nutrition, hormones, metabolic health, medications, and lifestyle all influence how clearly you think, how well you perform, and what you can sustain.

The Human Reserve Lab looks beyond symptoms to examine the biological and psychological factors shaping your brain health, cognitive performance, and long-term capacity.

BRAIN HEALTH IS MORE THAN THE ABSENCE OF DISEASE

Your brain doesn't operate independently of the rest of your body.

Your brain depends on more than your thoughts. Sleep, nutrition, metabolic health, hormones, medications, and daily demands all influence how it functions.

The Human Reserve Lab examines these biological and psychological factors to better understand your cognitive performance, brain health, and long-term capacity.

I SPENT YEARS STUDYING BRAIN HEALTH WHILE OVERLOOKING MY OWN.

I spent years being really good at running on empty.

Type A. Driven. Ambitious. The person who could always handle one more thing.

I built a career studying the human brain while pushing my own to keep up with everything I demanded of it.

And somewhere along the way, I started asking a different question.

What if being able to do it all isn’t the same as being well enough to keep doing it?

After 25 years working with people under extraordinary demands, I’ve learned that high functioning can hide a lot.

That’s why I created the Human Reserve Lab.

Because I’m no longer interested in how much we can squeeze out of ourselves.

I’m interested in how much life we have left after we’ve given everything else our best.

BETTER BRAIN HEALTH BEGINS WITH UNDERSTANDING WHAT INFLUENCES IT

You can't improve what you haven't taken the time to understand.

We examine your health history, nutrition, sleep, medications, laboratory information, and daily demands to understand the biological and psychological factors influencing your brain health and cognitive performance.

01

EXAMINE YOUR BRAIN HEALTH

We begin with your health history, sleep, nutrition, medications, and relevant labs to identify factors that may be influencing how your brain functions.

02

CONNECT BIOLOGY TO PERFORMANCE

We explore how these factors relate to your attention, memory, energy, decision-making, and ability to function under everyday demands.

03

BUILD YOUR HUMAN RESERVE

We identify practical, evidence-informed priorities that support brain health, strengthen cognitive functioning, and help preserve your long-term capacity.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Your brain is worth more than a diagnosis. And so are you.

Your brain is behind everything you do. How you think, work, create, connect, make decisions, and show up for the people who depend on you.

There’s a growing conversation about the brain economy—the idea that our ability to contribute, innovate, and perform depends on the health and capacity of our brains.

But here’s what I think we’re missing.

We spend a lot of time measuring what people produce. Far less time asking what it takes out of them.

Human Reserve is about both.

Because a healthy brain isn’t just one that’s free of illness. It’s one that has the resources to meet life’s demands—and enough left over to actually enjoy living.

WORK DIRECTLY WITH DR. TERALYN

Your brain health deserves more than guesswork.

Brain health is influenced by far more than any single symptom, diagnosis, or laboratory result.

We examine your health history, nutrition, sleep, medications, relevant labs, and cognitive functioning to identify what may be influencing how you think, feel, and perform.

Then we translate those findings into a personalized Human Capacity Plan that prioritizes brain health, cognitive performance, and long-term functioning.

No one-size-fits-all protocols. No unnecessary complexity. Just informed decisions about what deserves your attention.

Together we will...

✓ Examine the biological foundations of your brain health.

✓ Identify factors that may affect memory, focus, and energy.

✓ Review relevant health history, medications, and labs.

✓ Recognize patterns that may have been overlooked.

✓ Prioritize evidence-informed strategies for brain health.

✓ Build a personalized plan for cognitive performance and long-term capacity.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions before we get started?

Can I use insurance

No. Insurance plans do not recognize this type of brain health consultation as a covered service, so it cannot be billed to insurance.

Can I use my HSA?

HSA cards are accepted as payment. Eligibility and reimbursement depend on your individual plan, so you’ll need to confirm coverage with your HSA administrator.

Is this mental health therapy?

No. This is not therapy or counseling. Rather than providing ongoing emotional or psychological treatment, we focus specifically on your brain health—what may be influencing it, what deserves attention, and what you can do next.

Are you a medical doctor?

No. I have a PhD in Psychology, not an MD. My work focuses on helping you understand the factors influencing your brain health and turn that information into practical action.

How do I get labs?

I can facilitate access to lab testing through my direct-to-consumer lab partners, but I do not order labs. We’ll discuss which tests may be useful, and you decide what you want to pursue.

Brain health is complicated. Understanding yours shouldn't be.

I’ve spent 25 years working at the intersection of psychology, biology, and human health.

Brain health rarely comes down to one diagnosis, one lab result, or one explanation.

My work is about examining the bigger picture, questioning assumptions, and helping you understand what the evidence actually tells us.

I take the science seriously. The conversations? Those are pretty informal. Expect straightforward answers, thoughtful questions, and probably a little swearing.

WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU

✓ Complex brain-health information made understandable

✓ Your biology, medications, and health history considered together

✓ Clear distinctions between evidence and assumptions

✓ Practical priorities without unnecessary protocols

✓ Long-term cognitive health and capacity kept in view

✓ And yes, you’ll probably meet Linus. He has very strong opinions about brain health.
