I’m Dr Teralyn, And today I’m talking about my podcast “Kick Off Your Damn Heels” and how it came to be. You see, this is my very first podcast on my own, and I’m so happy to bring it to you. I am a psychotherapist by trade, and I got involved in brain health functioning because I saw too many of my clients come to my office and they were sicker and sicker, and I felt paralyzed to help them. So I dug deep and learned about neurotransmitter repair and brain health, particularly for people struggling with anxiety and depression. I also look at brain health recovery for people who are struggling with addictions. And guess what? I found out really quickly that it actually works. So this gave me tremendous motivation to begin to spread the word and spread the bigger word that you don’t have to suffer in silence.
Despite popular belief about mental health treatment, you don’t have to medicate or over medicate yourself to feel better. And also for most people, you may not have to use medication at all.
That is the premise of Kick off your damn heels because kicking off your heels is kind of like rolling up your sleeves. Let’s get down in dirty with this. Let’s really bring in some new ideas and talk to people who are pioneers in the mental health field because I think that people deserve more. They deserve better. They deserve way more than the standard treatment than what they are given in a psychiatrist’s office.
That’s what this is about. Kick off Your damn heels is a movement. It’s a time for us to stand up and take back our mental health, and it’s a time for us to actually begin to live instead of worrying about when to take our next prescription, and I say this with, tremendous gratitude for everything that I’ve been through in my life. See, I used to suffer with depression, and I also had severe panic attacks. I was fortunate enough to get out of my depression and get out of my anxiety by making some serious life changes. Notwithstanding that I was on an antidepressant for about five years that I couldn’t get off of, so it made me believe that I just needed to be on it for the rest of my life.
That turned out to not be the case.
Actually, it turned out to really not be the case.
I learned that living my life in a better way in a more natural way, in a healthier way is the key to good brain health success. And that’s what I want to share with you. So sit back, relax. And whenever you hear this podcast, feel free to kick off your damn heels, Take off your makeup, put your pajamas on, grab a cup of tea and let’s get to the nitty gritty.
